The Cultivating Possibilities Summit, convened by the Biden-Harris Administration, brought together 90 young people in the White House and U.S. Department of Education to facilitate dialogue between policymakers and youth. As a spoken-word Youth Poet Laureate representing Urban Word, I performed a poem for policymakers titled “Because I'm Still” on the theme of wellbeing, led panel discussions on key agencies such as Human Services and Education, and shaped policy recommendations with a commitment of $600,000 from Funders for Adolescent Science Translation to support follow-up initiatives. I joined a network of nonprofit leaders, education staff, and governmental leaders and represented creative opportunities and futures for the administration.
